Don’t buy this. I’ll explain why

My phone: iPhone 14 Pro Max

So I wanted a smaller compact alternative to apples 20W charging brick. After reading plenty of reviews, I settled on Anker’s “30W” charger that was smaller and had a collapsing plug. Certainly a better buy. Except I’m really conscious about my phone health and battery maintenance. This charging brick certainly works, but it doesn’t seem to charge “faster” than Apples 20W. I’ve used it for just over 2 months now. But no problem. I can deal with a a few minutes of difference. My issue came when my phone started to heat up like a pocket air fryer. Like seriously got to the point I’m unplugging it to cool off before reaching full charge. You begin to wonder if the extra wattage is worth sacrificing battery health, long term performance, and your very own safety.

Apple has already advised that fast charging 365 days a year isn’t the best means of juicing their devices as well as over-charging through the night. I personally don’t leave my phone to charge overnight as it performs pretty well throughout the day. So to tax the battery with unnecessary heat exchange degrading the lifespan slowly but surely and making my phone an unnecessary pocket stove was enough to shut this device down and just buy an Apple 20W charger. It delivers energy at a regulated rate that doesn’t compromise your device, it’s component’s, and your safety.

Good charge but hing already broke (3 months in)

Good size. Has an amazing fast charge for various electronic devices (iPad, iPhone, Samsung Z Fold, Nintendo Switch), but definitely a strain on battery healthy of smaller devices like phones. Unfortunately the hinge already broke 3 months in.

I take good care of my products and put them up in a case when not using. I was simply taking this out of the wall, folded the hinge in, heard a louder pop (than usual), and now the hinge is loose. This makes it’s a bit odd trying to plug into the wall now, but charge still works fine. Essentially there is no fixed closed/open position. Didn’t expect this to last forever, but also didn’t expect it to break so soon.

I bought this originally because I trust(ed) the Anker brand and they’ve always pulled through on reliable products that you can actually depend on (note the euify security issues)

I thought this was going to be around the size (maybe a bit larger) than the old 5W Apple charger. I thought this was impressive given that it has 30W of charging in a small, portable charger. I travel a lot on the weekends so having a small charger that I can keep on hand is important for me.
Now, when I say this thing is SMALLER than the original 5 watt Apple charger that came with iPhones from a time ago, I mean it is smaller and looks better in EVERY dimension. You can FEEL how powerful the charger is with the new GaN charging because of how dense this little charger is. It’s so small and compact, I’m actually surprised they were able to make it feel so robust. Anker has really knocked it out of the park with this charger. I’m wholly impressed and am going to get my girlfriend one to pair with her iPhone! Thanks so much for making such a great product!

The product looks better in person than it does in the photos too. It’s really compact and the usb-c port feels very secure. Will update after some use!

This new metal compound incorporated into their new charger technology does exactly what they predicted. It is extremely fast at charging and stays really cool (and cools down faster) compared to most basic chargers. As far as durability goes we will have to find that out for ourselves. Hoping for the best. I want to keep this fast charging instead of it having a hard drop off in speed like other silicone chargers.

Honestly the only thing sucky about Anker devices is the price but I’m always down bad for Anker products. From their cables to their chargers to their docking station. Charges really quickly. I got two one for myself and one for my sibling b/c they kept bothering to use mine since it charges very quickly. We’re using IPhone 14 and a 12. Also it being collapsible puts an ease of mind to not worrying about breaking the prongs of accidentally and my sibling has kids and it’s come in a clutch with them since that’s how they broke his last charger via breaking the prongs and their little hands don’t know how to take out the prongs. Also I was worrying about it overheating, and no overheating at all. Also I’ve used it to charge my IPhone, IPad and my MacBook Pro and it’s done a great job. Which I love cause one small little cube for 3 different type of devices. Have you seen the MacBook charger that comes in the box? That thing is bulky and I tend to forget it, but never forget my phone charger so it’s honestly amazing. Definetly recommend and as I said only downside is the price but also definetly worth the splurge. Also constantly having sales and discounts so take advantage.
