Product Description

Can I charge my Dell laptop at full speed with this 140W wall charger?
Due to Dell's proprietary charging protocol, Dell XPS 15 (9500/9510), Dell Alienware X14, and Dell Mobile Precision Workstation 5570 can not be charged at full speed with this charger.
How do I charge my device at 140W with this charger?
To charge at 140W, your device must support 140W input, have a Power Delivery 3.1 port, and you must use a 140W-rated USB-C cable.
Why do I see a plug symbol in my MacBook's battery icon when I plug in Anker 717 Charger?
Due to MacBook charging identification, it's normal to see a plug symbol in the battery icon when charging a MacBook with a third-party wall charger. Charging will revert to normal automatically after around one minute.

I've contacted Anker to try and figure out if this is normal or if I received a defective unit.
Jan 16 update: I received a replacement which I cannot get to work *at all*. No amount of unplugging and resetting will get it to charge so I'm back using the original charger and just replugging it in repeatedly until it charges. In the meantime, Anker has sent me a different model high wattage charger to try. Anker's customer service has been stellar, but this model of charger is no bueno.
Jan 28 update: Anker finally sent me a 747 instead and it works great so far. Raising my review to 3 stars for customer service but I would avoid the 717 for charging apple products.
Was a great 2 month run with the 717 charger. Hopefully not all these are bad/defective.
Update 02/10/2023. After several days unplugged, I tried it again and behold, working again. Maybe it has some type of electronic reset? Note: I also reached out directly to Anker and they were most helpful and offered a replacement. A replacement is no longer needed and I updated my rating.

I would honestly say that this charger is not up to the normal Anker quality that i had seen in the past. If you read the reviews, im not the only one with this problem. This appears to be a common problem with the charger. This is a product that i will not consider buying again unless they do a revision or some kind of change to it.
UPDATE
Anker support contacted me and helped me with the issue by providing a working charger.
I have updated the stars from 1 to 3, not for the product itself but for the great customer service that they offered and fast resolution to my problem.
11/7 Update - Anker’s customer support is worth 5 stars. They were very attentive in trying to figure out the issues I experienced and getting me another replacement quickly. I use a ton of Anker products so I’m familiar with their quality and am a fan. It was really strange to have two chargers die out of nowhere within two weeks of use, but hoping for the best with this replacement that I received a week ago. They didn't ask me to update my review and only focused on my satisfaction as a customer. Updated it to 4 stars because there must be something off with the quality control to have two chargers die back to back, but I believe Anker will stand behind their products and make things right no matter what.
I've purchased a number of Anker products and this sudden failure was the first issue I have experienced. I was incredibly impressed by Anker's customer support and speed in replacing this charger.
The reason they don't state that it works for the XPS 15 I think is related to this customer's answer to a question: "Dell uses a non-standard PD protocol to reach over 100W. So while it will work, it will not charge your laptop at the rated 140W (even if using the 140W USBC-USBC cable that they sell). Use the charger that came with your laptop to charge at full speed. Currently, the only laptop that can take advantage of 140W is Apple's newest M1 MacBook Pros, and even then only using the MagSafe cable."
So.. I wish it worked for us.. but sadly it doesn't.. and there probably will never be on these older devices a 3rd party option if Dell doesn't update to the newer power delivery standard on future devices :/

I really wanted to like the charger so I went teh aggravation of getting a replacement charger on to have EXACTLY THE SAME EXPERIENCE / PROBLEM.
I try rarely write review but this product is so bad and so unreliable that I wanted to share my experience so that others do have the same disappointment that I have had.
STAY AWAY!
