I finally bought this after 2 attempts with Apple for their cable, which smelled of mold. I purchased these instead and I’m getting 2 for the price of 1, plus no mold smell. LOL.

These are nicely made with a very tuff material. The charging rate seems very slow compared to the Apple cables, but I haven’t run any tests to confirm. Both connectors snap in and lock into place, but I do see some side-to-side movements. This isn’t affecting the charging rate, No drop in the connection. I’m only using these to charge the iPad while I’m away from the house, so I can’t comment on data transfers. This is much nicer sitting 6ft from the wall socket vs. 3ft with my old mobile Apple charge cable. I’ve only had these a few weeks and don’t have any life span info.

I’d recommend these cables. Sturdy, do the job, and no problems so far.

Premature failures.

Updated to a 3 Star after receiving an extraordinarily quick response from Anker as well as an offer to refund my money. Based on this I will try the cable again. Please note that this review is only about the cables I received with an order about one year ago. They seem to correlate with a number of others having the same issue. However, my review of these two specific cables that came from a specific manufacturing batch are a tiny percentage of the cables manufactured. Overall reviews for this product are very good. I also have other Anker products that are working very well. If a company will stand behind its products, that is a definite value-add and a great differentiator in the market. I actually have another, newer set already and will update my review in a few months. I also will pay attention to my handling of the cables to make sure my habits are not the problem. That seems fair and I also realize these things won't last forever.

These cables look VERY sturdy, and appear indestructible. However, they are proving to not be durable. Two failed after a year. I threw the first failure away because I assumed I had damaged it somehow. I still have the latest failure. Maybe I'll contact Anker if I have time. In reading some of the poor ratings I see that this is a common issue.

I'm sure these cables will work with most USB C smartphones but mine is very picky and unfortunately, these cables did not charge my phone. However, I have found another set that do work. It's interesting that all USB C connectors are not the same. Apparently some are slightly longer and able to make good contact for charging.

Does NOT support super fast charging via PD 3.0 and PPS. NO E-Marker chip

My first set of these were defective. While they did eventually replace them, it was a bit of a PITA to make it happen. Generally Anker is decent, but I think they are letting things slip a bit over the past few years.

These seem to NOT properly support PD 3.0 and PPS charging. They do NOT seem to have the required E-Marker chip and USB-IF certification, which would be required for true high current charging. Having a 56K resistor is NOT enough for newer devices (and is actually a kludge that shouldn't be allowed).

These cables are fine for older Samsung Fast charging. They stink for current super fast charging. Once in a blue moon I'll get it to do a reasonable SF charge, but it almost always will back down to standard FC rates within a few seconds. And yes, I know the "issue" with the Samsung SF charging not really charging at full 45 W on the new S22s...this is NOT that, I'm usually not even getting 18W. I have tried multiples of these cables and also the 10 foot version of it. I have tried them with multiple different 65W PD 3.0 PPS chargers and they tend to suck.

I ended up buying a 3 foot Cable Matters USB4 cable and blamo, 6600mA charge rates like clockwork. Is the Cable Matter cable more expensive...yup? Is it worth the extra $7? You bet your undies it is. It's USB-IF certified with the chip, plus it also has the benefit of supporting USB4 data speeds of 20 gb/s and video. I'm waiting on a 10 foot 100W charging cable (no USB 3+ data support) from them to see how it goes...it's also supposed to have a e-marker, so we'll see.

All that said, if your needs are lower (older phone/device) these cables will work, and they are a decent deal for what they end up being.

UPDATE 4/11/22: Also, just wanted to reiterate that this *does* support charging my Gen9 Thinkpad X1 Carbon at a full 60W USB-C. It just doesn't support the newest PPS properly for consistent SF charging at all, which admittedly most devices don't require. The Cable Matters cable mentioned above DOES work significantly better on my S22 Ultra...consistently and more stably charging at higher speeds allowed by the phone. Of course it also costs more.

stopped being able to charge the pixel 7 pro. its connected to googles 30w charger designed for this phone. the charging keeps cutting out and reconnecting and it doesnt charge fast at all. the phone also heats up pretty good. i guess this cable just goes bad after about a year of use. oh well.

I chose Anker brand as they have provided quality products in the past. I have cords outlast my phone. However, I bought a 2 pack of these cords and one is no longer working. At first it kept charging it off and on but now it isn't working at all. I discovered such age believing my phone was charging all night and waking up to this surprise. Luckily I was able to plug the other cord into my Samsung speed charger and get a good charge. I gave 3 out of 5 starts because one is still working.

The cord made it about 11 months and is now very intermittent as far as charging goes. It seems to be getting worse but if I position it just right it will maybe take the charge. Sometimes it'll be when I plug it back in over and over it'll take, hard to say. Sucks that it's so short lived.

I've swapped to another cord just to make sure it wasn't the device and it started charging immediately without issue, so I know it's the cord. I'll have to order another one as someone loaned me their cord in the meantime.

Updating review briefly because the company sent me replacements after I sent them in inquiry. So at least they are really honest with their warranty.

Ugh. Why do these cords always have to be so unreliable? Thought I'd buy into a reliable brand name like these and I wouldn't have to worry about it for a while. Nope.

After 3 months the cords are already having connectivity issues and have trouble charging. My phone would regularly go from connected to disconnected rapidly because I guess the wiring in these cords are kinked.

Anyways. This is a terrible product.

I got two cables, and one of them started acting up very quickly (~1 month) and for no apparent reason. It was rapidly charging and not charging on repeat. The other works fine, but I'm not overall happy with the quality of the cables, and I don't think they'll last that long. I've had very good Anker cables before which is why I decided to buy these, but I'll be more careful next time.
