Honestly Love Anything Anker

Anker does tend to be a bit more expensive but in the long run is very much worth it. I have a multitude of Anker products from cables to battery packs to chargers and they all work flawlessly. The quality of their products is always top notch, and this cable isn't any different.

If you need a new cable, I definitely recommend this one.

Cable is great, but Q&A and Comments are WRONG

Be very careful about purchasing Anker cables on Amazon. The Q&A and the comments are not always for the cable in the listing (even when it's sold by Amazon). I purchased the Anker Powerline+ II Lightning Cable to use with CarPlay and discovered that, contrary to the Q&A, it is a charging-only cable. It does not deliver data and thus will not work with CarPlay.

I blame both Amazon and Anker for this problem. Anker's products are great, but you cannot be sure you are getting what you need.

Tha cable I've been looking for for Apple Car Play

I've had hit and miss Apple Car play connectivity for years with my Mazda CX-5. I've used multiple different cables from Amazon and Apple cables as well on multiple iphones. This cable seems to have fixed all that. It connect immediately (super fast) and works every time. Thisn is the only cable I will buy for USB-A to Lightning ever again.

Used this to charge my iPhone for the past few years. The red color matched my phone exactly and it's finish has dulled only slightly since 2020. It was good for charging at a good pace, just as fast as the OEM Apple cable, and it worked well with Carplay. It finally stopped working this year, no amount of plugging or unplugging will get the cable to work with charging, computer connections, or carplay, while other cables still work just fine. It is still longer than a lot of other brands, but not quite lifetime durability.

Audio books and an F150

I guess that audio books kill cables. With a forty-five minute commute to work each way, I use the time to listen to audio books. I drive a 2013 F150, and for an Apple device to do much of anything in the way of interfacing with that version of Ford SYNC (other than using the phone to make hands free calls), they have to be hooked up via a USB/Lightening cable.

One would think that, for the premium price charged by Apple, they would bother to include lightning cables that could be used in an emergency to pull vehicles out of tar pits with...but no. They really don't. I'm not all that tough on my gear, but after only four months of use I started taping and hot gluing the OEM cable. Then, of course, came the stage where I could only set my phone down in one very particular orientation and still have it connect.

When I decided to replace the cable a few weeks ago, I went with a Aonsen Lightning Cable 3 Pack. Figured that would do the trick. Not so much. While they worked fine charging my devices at home, they would not connect my iPhone to my truck. Not for data, and not even for charging. As in nothing...on all three cables.

When none of them worked, I might have said things out loud that I wouldn't want my daughters to repeat at school. Can't remember. But, I figured it had to be something incompatible with the cable and my truck's USB socket, since the cables work fine on my computer and wall chargers. But that presented another issue. How could I tell what would be compatible...without just buying another short lived Apple cable?

After much fruitless research, and seeing some incredible customer service reviews for Anker, I decided give brand loyalty a try. I've got an Anker Power Core that I'm all pleased with...so why not give an Anker cable a go as well, right? Now here I am with a shiny new red Anker PowerLine+ II Lightning Cable, and it works like a charm.

The cord itself seems to be very robust, and just...beefy. Originally I though that beefiness might present a problem since my iPhone 7 is in an Otter Box case. But no, the Lightening side of the cord fits into the access port neatly. Actually, the size even makes it easier to line up the connectors in the dark (that's an every morning thing for me).

The real story is that it not only does the cord perform at home, it has flawlessly charged my phone from my vehicle's USB port and streamed my books to my truck's stereo speakers. The attached Velcro cord wrap and carry case were nice touches by Anker as well, but with the way this cord has performed so far, I wouldn't have cared if it had shown up on a thin plastic bag.

I'll update in a few months if there is anything new to report, but if this cable continues to perform like it does now...Apple should look at contracting Anker to make cords for them. I'm not even close to joking. Actually, they should think about having ANYONE else do it...but for now I'm going with Anker, and I'll be coming back to their products for a while as well.

If you’re like me, you have been burned by many different charging cables. I learned that cheap cables are cheap for a good reason: the typically fail to be recognized by devices pretty quickly (I groan inwardly over all the time I spent jiggling cables in the past so they would connect and/or stay recognized as true certified cables). Since I first purchased Anker cables, I have been very impressed by my them and have been thrilled that they stand the test of time.

I have a fabulous collection of Anker cables—not because they have failed, but because I love having different cables for different purposes (the more the merrier in our device-filled house and when we travel). I favor the braided cables, which hold up to the yanking abuse of my two kids. I appreciate when Anker makes improvements—such as with the Powerline+ II—and you get an even sturdier cable and faster charge. I’ve found that 6-foot cables are the most versatile because they give just enough length whether you are charging in a car, with a power bank, or at an outlet or hub so you can use your device without feeling like you’re a fish being reeled in or a dog on a short leash (how I feel with a 3-foot cable unless I am charging and walking away or leaving on a nightstand as I sleep). This length is also very easy to loop up and store—especially with the provided velcro strap and cases. The cases are sleek! I love that they are zippered, too, and not fully soft-sided (this cable has now trumped my love for another Anker cable that came with a more felt-like wrap enclosure with a velcro attachment inside . . . though I still like that one, too).

I bought four of these cables (two in red, two in gold) as well as two 10-foot cables (just like these, but longer and without a carrying case). Across the board, I love that these cables are sturdy and hearty. They have all held up to months of kid abuse already as well as traveling and they function/look brand new (I’ve experienced other brands during on me when we were traveling and especially rough with them. Not so with these.). They charge well and quickly. And they look good! Even the packaging of the cables looks good! (I know these are not necessarily key criteria—but, hey, if you can have cables that not only do a great job but look fantastic and come in nice packaging—why not?). Best of all, I know that when I put my hard-earned money down on Anker products, they will do their job. I am very happy with this purchase!

It is too early to tell if this is a 10 out of 10. I have high standards. But with the quick shipping to my doorstep, the excellent packaging and presentation, the solid texture and feel of each of the components, and smooth charging operations which I am using as I write this review, I am going to give this a 5 out of 5. I got two cords. They fit perfectly in the travel case. By the way the case is very good looking and VERY COMPACT (the product photos are deceiving). Amazing!

Only thing I wish Anker would have done was add a similar fitting travel case for their 10-ft cable. I would have bought that in a heartbeat.

And please come out with similar braided cable with magnetic tip chargers!

But you know what, 6ft is soooo much better than 3ft. So far, I am impressed and delighted by a Charging cable. And it takes a lot of technical skill and quality to do that. Nice job Anker!

If anything goes awry, I'll update my review accordingly but I'm not expecting it. When other users said Apple should have included this quality grade of cable with their phones and tablets, they are 100% CORRECT! You are going to ask yourself WHY you went so long using shoddy OEM cables from Apple.

Now, Anker...when are you going to upgrade ALL of your other useful cables to Powerline+ II ? I want to see it all! USB-C to USB-C, and the other commonly used iterations.

I went ahead and also picked up an Anker 6-port PowerPort 6 IQ-charger and as one would expect both work very well. Currently charging an iPhone 6s+ and IPad Pro from 2016.

Loving it!

UPDATE December 2018: I’ve been using the 6 and 10 foot cables from this Powerline+ II product series rigorously at home, work, and travel and I have not had a single problem. Saved my neck on several occasions. I’ve recommended these to numerous people. I have family members fighting over who gets to use my cables when they visit.

Word of caution: Amazon is now selling a knock-off copycat version competing with Anker’s cables. Don’t buy them, they’re not in the same league as these. You might save a couple dollars but if you read some of their reviews you’ll notice that not everything is amazing about those knockoffs.

Update March 2019: Still work perfect. I have been rough with them. No issues. I’ve had 2 apple lightning cables fail since last year and this cable has become my fail-safe.

purchased this cable with the hopes of it being high quality.

So far I’m very happy. The feel and look is spectacular. You can tell it’s well made. It has a thicker diameter than my other braided cables. It has good flexibility and stays were you bend it with only a little memory. The braids are tight and the material used is silky and very soft. It’s hard The Velcro tie down is also very nice and own and ruin the cable .

Compared to most other brands the connection Rods on the inside are much thicker/heavier. It will take a long time to wear them down. When connected the usb jack will be snug and stay tight for much longer and maintain a good solid transfer of power/data. The lightning side fits secure as well.

I was able charge with multiple devices. No problems with the phone not being recognized.

I have the iPhone 7 with the Otter box “slim” hard case. No problem with connecting the cable for Sync/charge.

Another bonus is the pouch, FYI, the pouch ONLY comes with the 6” and 3” NOT 10”. The pouch is soft and just as well made as the cable. Both zippers Slide very easy and smooth. Simple to coil and place inside the pouch in order to adjust the length to be large or small. Just by pulling or pushing the cable back inside it. I like that the logo is there but subtle. I may end up using it to store my external power supply, I’m not sure yet. I would like more of these pouches.

I have only just got it so I hope it does last. From the sounds of their customer service, if I have any problems, I will have nothing to fear.

I’ve only had this charger for a short time, and I am using it in my car. It is very long, easy to store, easy to use, and charges great, and fast! I have read other reviews that indicate the charge cord stops working after a few months, but that Anker replaces with no problem. I’m hoping if this happens , I’ll be able to get a replacement, but I would rather not have to go through that nightmare.

I had originally purchased this cable in July 2018. I saw a lot of reviews on Reddit recommending this item as the best 3rd party lightning cable. My original unit worked perfectly for a little over a year, up till around August 2019. At that point, and to this day, the charger still works if you angle it correctly, but if you move it at all it will intermittently disconnect and reconnect. I contacted Anker about this issue and and I was pleasantly surprised that they were willing to promptly send me a new second cable, free of charge. All I had to do was send them the original Amazon receipt and a picture of the cord with an Anker logo showing.

Unfortunately, the second unit only lasted for 7 months, until March 2020, at which point it did not charge at all. It was strange because there was no cosmetic damage, no tears, bends, whatsoever. Just plugging it in there was no charge and no reaction at all. Once again I contacted Anker and they sent me a new one. HOWEVER, I had not received the cable yet, and the Anker rep followed up with me and asked how the new cable was doing. I responded saying I hadn't received it yet, but they said that it showed on their end it should have been delivered. At this point I concluded it probably got lost in the mail, which I told the Anker rep. He kindly asked me to double check, and when I told him I indeed couldn't find it, he sent me ANOTHER replacement unit (4th one!) free of charge. I received the new one and it has been working perfectly so far. Overall, I cannot recommend this company enough, as the way they treat their customers is incredibly respectful and considerate.
