Connect virtually any device or peripheral you can imagine thanks to a Thunderbolt 4 upstream port, a Thunderbolt 4 downstream port, a USB-C Power Delivery port, 2 HDMI ports, an Ethernet port, SD card slot, a 3.5 mm AUX port, and 4 USB-A ports.

Thunderbolt 4 makes getting more from your laptop a breeze. Transfer files, connect an external monitor, and power your laptop all from a single port. That leaves plenty of ports free to accomplish all of your other tasks. Thunderbolt 4 even features compliance with a range of specifications including previous versions of Thunderbolt, USB4, DisplayPort, and PCI Express (PCIe).

Compatibility Information
- Compatible with Windows 10 laptops equipped with a Thunderbolt 4 port (Intel Evo Platform), and non-M1 and M1 Max/Pro MacBooks running macOS 11 (Big Sur) or later.
- Not compatible with Linux or ChromeOS laptops, Thunderbolt 3 Windows laptops, M1/M2 MacBooks, or MacBooks running macOS 10.16 or earlier.
Note:
If you cannot detect the dock after updating to macOS Ventura, please follow these steps: Privacy & Security > Allow accessories to connect.
macOS doesn't support Multi-Stream Transport (MST), and as such, all content displayed via the HDMI ports will be mirrored.

- The table above shows the maximum supported resolutions. Actual resolution varies based on the specifications of the host device.
- MacBooks with the Apple M1 chip only support single monitor display.
- Intel based MacBooks, Apple M1 Max/Pro MacBooks, and Apple M2 MacBooks support dual monitor display with extended desktop when using a USB-C to HDMI video adapter (not included). Connecting to two monitors using the two HDMI ports will only mirror your desktop.
- This dock can support up to three simultaneous monitor connections. The number of monitors that can be used with your laptop depends upon the power of your laptop and its graphics card capabilities. Not all laptops have the graphics capabilities to support multiple monitors and you may encounter display issues when attempting to use multiple displays.
Determining Your DisplayPort (DP) Version: The version of DP on your laptop, computer, or tablet directly determines the actual resolution when connecting to external monitors using the Anker hub. There are three simple ways to find out which version of DP your device has.
1. Ask your device manufacturer or seller directly.
2. If you're using a Windows device, you can tell which version of DP you have by checking your CPU generation.
- DP version 1.2 if your CPU is Intel generation 10 or earlier.
- DP version 1.4 if your CPU is Intel generation 11 or later.
- DP version 1.4 if you're using a workstation laptop with an NVIDIA GPU.
Don't know how to find your CPU generation? Simply go to This PC (or My Computer) > Properties and look for the number (shown in bold and underlined below):
Processer: Intel(R) Core i7-8850H CPU @ 2.60GHz 2.59Ghz
3. If you're using a MacBook, iMac, or iPad, you can find your DP version from the list below:
DP 1.4: iPad Pro 11-inch, iPad Pro 12.9-inch (3rd generation and later), MacBook Pro (16-inch, 2019), MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2017 and later), MacBook Pro (13-inch, 4 Thunderbolt 3 ports, 2020), MacBook Air (2020), MacBook Air (13-inch, M1, 2020), MacBook Pro (13-inch, M1, 2020), MacBook Pro (14-inch, 2021), MacBook Pro (16-inch, 2021), iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, 2017 and later), iMac (Retina 4K, 21.5-inch, 2017 and later), and iMac Pro (2017 and later)
DP 1.2: iPad Air (4th generation), MacBook Air (2018 and later), MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2016 and later), MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2016), iMac (non-Retina, 21.5‑inch, 2017), and Mac mini (2018)

- 90W Max Charging: Use a Thunderbolt 4 cable to keep your laptop powered up while you’re working.
- The USB-A data ports do not support charging.
FAQ
Q1: Can this dock support fast charging for my devices?
A1: This dock supports up to 90W of charging via the Thunderbolt 4 upstream port on the front of the dock (indicated with a computer icon). This means that if your laptop comes with a 100W or above power adapter, the charging speed will be slower than you’re used to. The USB-C Power Delivery port (indicated by “PD”) supports up to 20W fast charging for your phone. The Thunderbolt 4 downstream port supports 15W charging for smaller devices.
The USB-A data ports on the back of the dock do not support charging.
Q2: Will this dock work with any laptop? What kind of cable should I use to connect the dock to my laptop?
A2:No, this dock only works with Windows laptops equipped with a Thunderbolt 4 port (Intel Evo Platform), and non-M1 MacBooks running macOS 11 (Big Sur) or later. It is recommended to use a Thunderbolt 4.0 cable.
Q3: How to deal with screen drop, black screen, or screen flickering issues when connecting to an external monitor?
A3: After the dock has just been connected to the external monitor, it's normal for there to be some degree of flickering. It should go away in a few seconds. If this problem persists, try lowering the resolution.
If you experience any screen issues after waking up your laptop, restart the dock. If your laptop or the docking station has not been shut down for a long time and you’re experiencing screen issues, please restart the dock.
Q4: Sometimes the dock doesn’t automatically reconnect after I wake up or restart my laptop. What should I do?
A4: This situation doesn’t happen very often, but if you are having this problem, try disconnecting and reconnecting the Thunderbolt 4 cable.
Q5: Why does the dock feel warm?
A5: When charging or transferring data at high speed, the dock’s temperature may increase. Don't worry, this is within the normal limits of the dock’s operation. To avoid excessive heat, make sure not to place any objects on top of the dock or to cover the dock with anything.

There was a problem filtering reviews right now. Please try again later.
Step 1: Made sure the technical specs matched my computer and bought it on Amazon (positive experience).
Step 2: Tried to use it with an external monitor (a 4K monitor) using a high speed 4K compliant HDMI cable. It would not work. I tried multiple cables. I tried multiple settings and HDMI ports on my external monitor. It would always default to 1920 x 1080. (horrible experience).
Step 3: I contacted technical support at Anker and they basically said a technical expert would get back to me and they could not immediately resolve it. They said they would get back to me in several days. (horrible experience).
Step 4: I decided to try one last thing. Instead of using one of the two HDMI ports on the device, I decided to buy a new cable (male USB-C to male HDMI) that uses the USB-C port on the Anker. This solved it! Now the product works as expected. I then plugged in another 4K 60Ghz monitor to one of the HDMI ports. Both show up perfectly. (positive experience)
Lesson learned. This sequence of plugging in external monitors is critical (for me). Use the USB-C port first for an external monitor, then add other HDMI ports on the Anker 777. This seems like a major design error and I am guessing is a major source of frustration for most users. I hope this helps.
In all honesty, there is not all that much to say. It works exactly as advertised. It was very simple to unbox and connect and all there was to do after all the cables were connected was to press the "ON" button. Everything connected seamlessly and there were no issues. I have been using this daily for the past two weeks and have had no issues.
Positives. First, my new laptop has a 3480x2160 UHD display. I had a prior Anker docking station that only supported 1080p which was the primary why I upgraded to the new Apex 12. The Apex 12 seems to handle the higher resolution with no issues. I was having a lot of issues when using my old docking station while trying to use my video editing and creation software. Those issues are now gone.
Second, the Thunderbolt-4 interface from the Apex 12 to my laptop is really nice. With my older Anker docking station I had a USB cable connecting to my laptop, a power supply for the laptop and a power supply for the docking station. Now I have one power supply to the Apex 12 and a USB C cable connecting the Apex 12 to the laptop. Everything is much simplified.
Third, I have a Toshiba Canvio Advance 4TB external hard disk that I keep a lot of my files on. I do a lot of video creation and editing and the loading and saving of files from the hard disk connected to the docking station seems to be much improved. I can't really quantify it, but it seems faster.
Fourth, I love the USB-C port on the front for quickly connecting my phone or other devices. It's nice not having to hunt for a port on the back of the device. Being on the front is super handy.
Negatives? My primary complaint is the stand that allows the unit to stand up vertically must be bought separately. In my opinion it should have come with the Apex 12 as it is really needed and I did buy it after receiving and setting up the product. My minor complaint is I wish it had more USB-A high speed ports. The Apex 12 has 4 USB-A ports on the rear (2 high speed and 2 standard). I still have peripherals that I need to connect (microphone, Logitech camera, external hard drive, etc.) that use USB-A so having more than 2 high speed ports would help.
I will note a couple items of additional issues that I have encountered.
Issue 1 is an intermittent warning from my Dell completer stating that the power being supplied by the Apex 12 was not sufficient and to change power supplies. At first this a mildly annoying, but then the notices were constant and it was really pissing me off. And suddenly the notices have gone away. So not sure at all what the issue was or is or whether it will come back. That said, there was never an adverse issue with my computer or it's functions. The battery charged up nicely and no functions were lost or impaired. So who knows. That issue, for now, is gone.
Issue 2 is my older (2014-2015 era) Dell Monitor. If I am not actively using the monitor it seems to go to sleep and the monitor goes dark. I have to touch the on/off button and it comes back to life. I honestly do not know if it is a monitor issue or a computer issue or an Apex 12 issue.
So, I guess, if I could, I would give it 4-1/2 stars. It isn't perfect, but it's pretty darn good. But I can only do 4-stars or 5. So.... Drumroll please... I am giving it 4-stars. If the stand that they sell separately had come with the Apex 12 I would have given it 5-stars. But I had to buy it separately and it was really needed and since I think they should have supplied it as part of the package I am cutting a star off.
I like Anker, I'll buy Anker again. Having said that, I do not find this hub reliable and I do not recommend it. The monitors drop out unless you occasionally do a complete power-off/disconnect everything (including hub's AC cord) and then plug it all back in. My year-old Logitech webcam occasionally goes missing. What prompted me to write this second review is all the USB ports went out Minutes Before A Big Job Interview - I had to switch to my laptop camera and headset while on the Zoom call. It was a good interview, but no thanks to this hub. When I have something so important again, I will make DAMN sure I do a complete reboot of everything and test all peripherals a half hour before the start of whatever I need it for. This was really inconvenient and I'm not going to forget it for a long, long time. If I hadn't dropped $300 on it I would toss it out and get something I can count on.
UPDATED REVIEW - see below:
I like Anker a lot, and I'll buy Anker again. This dock IMO is not ready for use. From the beginning it cut out the monitors on my plain-Jane set up of on FHD monitor and one 4K and some charging cables. It appears power goes only to the USB-C ports and not to the USB-A and HDMI ports. I can power my new Lenovo Carbon X1 laptop and I can recharge my keyboard and headphones with the USB-C ports, but there is no power to the USB-A ports and I assume to the HDMI ports. No devices are recognized by my laptop despite the power connection working. Multiple reboots of laptop and dock, switching the cable around, flipping the connectors, swapping cables -- nothing makes a difference. The unit is definitely powered on, definitely worked (in its intermittent way) yesterday, and is not working at all today. I bought this in October and it appears I have until the end of this month to return it. I will see if I can get a fix I like, otherwise I will return it. I would not recommend it to a friend.
UPDATE: Anker proactively reached out to me in January a week after I wrote my first two-star review, which was two months after I bought the dock. They offered to swap my unit with a new one, and I decided to take them up on it. Maybe mine was a lemon. The new unit is identical for hardware as far as I can tell, so maybe the firmware is different. Before shipping the new one, I also did as they requested and did more fiddling around with cables and reboots to make it work right. Turns out if the unit is getting all wackado, you shutdown your computer, unplug the dock from it, take all the cables out of the dock including the power cable, let it sit till all charge is gone (I ate lunch), then come back and incrementally plug everything back in. I rebooted my computer twice without the dock, I powered up the dock with nothing but the AC cable in it and back down, then plug just the dock into my computer so it recognizes the dock, then reboot with the dock plugged in, then shut down the computer, power off the dock, count to 10, power up the dock, plug in my two monitors, webcam, Jabra speakerphone, power up the dock, power up the laptop, and things seem to work well.
By the way, I'm using a brand new Lenovo X1 Carbon that is Thunderbolt 4 compatible, two 27" Asus monitors (one is 4K but both are set to 1920x1080), a new Logitech webcam, and a Jabra USB speakerphone. Not too heavy a load and should be within the power and abilities of the dock. I'm using 5 of the 13 ports
My benchmark comparison for good technology is the toaster. You never doubt it's going to make toast just the way you set it up to do every day. You don't even think about it. I feel like my Lenovo does this - it turns and goes just like I expect; the technology is invisible to the work at hand. This Anker 777 dock does not meet the toaster benchmark. I just now needed to go through this process again about a month after the last time, so I'm thinking on a monthly basis I need to do this big cleanse process so that all the innards get straightened out and recognize peripherals and computer components like it should. The dock works, and I'll keep it. I don't have time to go looking for something else. I still like Anker (that proactive service call is impressive), I like this 777 dock okay, and I would not recommend it to a friend.
Top reviews from other countries

I asked for a replacement with the previous model but they couldn't do that either for whatever reason. So they offered a 60% refund which I had little choice but to accept it. I'm very disappointed with them. Their products are usually so good and reliable.

My only wish would be to see a dock with some DisplayPort capability and not just HDMI.
Otherwise, excellent product as always from Anker.
