I am an early adopter of technology so when the first Apple Pencil was released I purchased an iPad to use specifically for it. The biggest complaint for me was that the pencil was cylindrical and really had no tactile feel or grip. It worked fine, but was awkward to hold for long use. With the new 2nd Generation Apple Pencil, they at least addressed this issue, as it has more of a feel to it. I purchased for use with my iPad Pro 11" tablet and the cool thing is that the pencil is magnetic and attaches to the iPad and charges at the same time, pretty handy. I haven't had a lot of time with it yet, so I will update after I get some time under my belt with this tool, but so far am impressed overall.

I use my big iPad to display sheet music when I play. There's a lot of marking (annotating) involved: writing in bowings, expression marks, little reminders to yourself. The wonderful thing about this 2nd gen pencil is that you can double tap the side of it to switch between writing and erasing. That's a huge time saver for a musician. The induction charging and pairing is both a plus and a negative. You no longer have to mess with cords or easily lost female to female adapters, but if you have a protective case around your iPad, you may have to peel away the edge of your case to expose the side of the ipad for positive connection with the pen. With my case, it's an ongoing problem.

Biggest issue, it's way to skinny and slippery. Not at all comfortable to hold. But I can't put a wrap around it or it'll mess up the contact with iPad. Apple seems to have this forever issue of form winning out over function.

Love my Apple Pencil. So much so that when I lost it I had to immediately get a replacement. The tips are easy to damage if you are clumsy like me and drop things from time to time. A 4 pack of replacement tips is only like $20. Also, it sticks well to the iPad with the internal magnets but if you are on the go a lot I suggest keeping a close eye on it as it easily comes off.
