I am always on my laptop, and it is never plugged it. It gets an overnight charge, and then we are off and running all day long it's usually done by about 2 o'clock, so I plug it into the Omni, I charge it while I'm working, and by the time the Omni is depleated the MacBook Pro is full and I've got another six or seven hours of charge left. The thing is great.

I had purchased one of these in 2019 and it worked fine for 4 years - stopped holding a charge so I bought a replacement unit. The new one has NO USB-C port, even though the Amazon page description, box photos, and instruction manual all refer to a USB-C port for both charging and power delivery. The port is just missing! I'm returning the item and will move to a different solution.

UPDATED: Omnicharge reached out to me, indicating that I had somehow gotten a very, very old unit, as the first generation did NOT have a USB-C Port - they suspected someone bought one, swapped in an old unit and returned it to Amazon.

In consideration for my aggravation, they gave me a discount on purchasing one directly from their site, which I did, and I am happy to report that the replacement one I got was exactly as expected. The combination of an AC plug, USB-C power, twin USB-A ports, a Qi charger, and excellent functionality to show exactly what is happening on the small OLED screen makes this the most well-rounded charger around. It is not cheap but does everything you need. I recommend it if you need that flexibility. I am also impressed by the company's support process, reaching out to fix my issue with the first unit I got from Amazon.

The box for the Omni 20+ says it will “power anything anywhere”. That might be overstating its capabilities, but it will certainly power many things in many places. What sold me on it was the variable DC output. You can control both the voltage (1V – 25V in 0.1V increments) and the maximum current (0.1A – 5.0A in 0.1A increments). With the right cable and adapter, you can power your camera for a long while – great for night sky photography if you're doing long exposures or lots of shorter exposures. Setting aside the Omni Ultimate, this is the only power bank / portable DC power supply that I've found that has variable DC output. Some other brands of power supply have stepped DC output, say, with 5V, 9V, 12V, 16V, and 20V, but these are inconvenient if you need something in-between, say, 7.5V to run your camera. You might cobble together a solution with 5V output and a step-up voltage device, or very inefficiently use the AC inverter with an AC/DC adapter, but Omnicharge's solution – direct DC output of whatever voltage you need – is a lot simpler and more efficient.

The Omni 20+ has also got a USB-C PD port with up to 60W output, 2 USB-A ports, each with 5V and up to 3A output, an AC inverter with 120V output up to 100W, High Voltage DC output through that same AC port (useful if your laptop, for instance, has a switched mode power supply), and wireless charging of your phone on the top surface. The two ports for variable DC output and USB-C output also double as input ports for charging the internal 20,000 mAh battery. You select whether you want input or output using the front panel buttons and the tiny OLED display.

Another reviewer complained that this device is heavy. I don't agree. You can certainly find lighter-weight power banks without an AC inverter (though the weight depends in large part on the battery capacity) and maybe you can find a few AC inverters without an internal battery that are lighter, but I'm not aware of any combined power banks and AC inverters that are lighter than the Omni 20+. Nearly all such devices I've seen weigh at least 2 pounds, against the 1.4 pounds of the Omni 20+.

There are some negatives. This thing is fairly expensive at $200, even if it does do a lot. You don't get a charger with it (unless you buy the more expensive Omni 20 bundle). A fast USB-C charger will probably cost at least $25. A more complete user manual would be helpful. The included manual is fairly thick but it only explains about “battery calibration”... in 10 or 12 different languages. There is some useful information on the Omnicharge website but it's scattered on different pages and it's incomplete. I spent some time pushing buttons in different combinations to figure out all the features. I still don't know what all the icons on the display represent. While the website has some information about the display, I think it must be for an earlier model – it certainly does not describe some of the icons on my display. The wireless charger is kind of flaky. At least with my phones, it's extremely sensitive to the placement and orientation of the phone. Often, after I've carefully placed the phone on top, the display on the Omni 20+ will initially indicate that it's charging (as does the phone), but when I check a few minutes later, it has stopped charging. This is not simply a problem with my phones – I have other wireless chargers that work much more reliably with the same phones.

I wanted a small and quiet portable power supply, and the omni 20 does that perfectly.

The device feels solid, and is small, roughly 5x5x1 inches. . It has a 20,000 mAh battery in it. My cell phone has a 3300 mAh battery in it, and think my 2018 MacBook Pro has a 7333 mAh battery in it for comparison. The device has a few ports:

Usb-C port that can be used to charge another device, or the omni20+ itself
A dc input jack to charge a device or the omni20+ itself.
2 USB-A ports to charge devices only.
1 3 pronged ac outlet to charge devices only.

The way I use it, I charge the omni20+ by plugging in the usb-c to usb-c connector from my MacBook Pro to the device.

I can also plug in my internet lte hotspot to the ac plug, my MacBook to the usb-c port, and charge my cell either by placing it on top for wireless charging or using the usb3 to usbc. If I plug all these things in though it would not be able to charge them all from 0 to full, but it would top them all up.

The thing I liked a lot about this device is that it does not need a fan. Some other chargers I looked at needed fans to switch on. I prefer the quiet and no moving parts of this unit.

I also like the screen a lot that shows information on how much power is going in or out of the device. Educational, and also nice to see the different output of the different block chargers I have helping to identify the low and higher power ones.

Any negatives? One is that it is on the more expensive of available options, would be nice to be a bit cheaper. They did have a slip of paper offering a free accessory from their website for the price of writing a review. So that’s about 50 off the price. I am going to ask for their fast charger adapter. Also I got a deal on Amazon when it was on sale. Other negative is that although quiet because no fan, sometimes gets warm and will stop charging until it cools.

I had a hard time to choose between the USB exclusive output model or this one (with AC & USB output), because the power on the USB is different. The concept it's fantastic, I'm exploring everyday these features and it's reliable . I believe only fine print issues may stop the Omni charge to state it's dependable, but in my calibration and further tests. it was. A small example is driving 2 XPOWER FC-250D Pro 13” Brushless DC Motor Air Circulators and a the main floor air washer all set at max power for 3 hours !!! ... was quite impressive.
PS. Did I mentioned the design it's probably way beyond the Apple's standards ... ? Every detail has a reason.
