You can't fix it; that happened with mine. You can buy another clip (which I have not researched ) or you can use a key ring. I use the key ring to hold both my car key fob and the airpod case so that I don't forget one or the other when I leave the house. Sorry, tried to upload a picture but not able to.

It should be easy, I take the top off first then pull the bottom. Just pull back on the case top and it should come right out
