I have owned this product for a total of one week. My AirPods are now gone because of it.
A few days into owning this case, the entire set came off of the large golden key ring while I was at work. Thankfully, I saw it and put them back on. But it was a little alarming because it seems that just the rattling of keys or the movement of setting them on a couch or table was enough to make them come off. I hoped it wouldn’t happen again.
Flash forward 3 more days, it happened again at a restaurant. This time, I was not lucky enough to notice they fell off. I was notified on my phone that the AirPods were “left behind” and no longer near me, once I was 7 min out from the restaurant. There was a detour to get back to the restaurant but by the time I had gotten there, they were gone.
I have been tracking the location of the AirPods through the find my friends app. They were most definitely stolen after falling off of the keychain. I have seen them go from location to location. Apparently, the new owner is loving them. And it is entirely at the fault of this case! Note: my last case to hold AirPods on my keys, I used for 2 years without ever having a single issue of it becoming unattached. What a serious bummer.
We did track the AirPods to the home, and it tells me on my phone that I am near them when I stand outside of their apartment! We brought the police with us for safety. They refuse to open the door. Unfortunately, the cops have said that they have responded to 7+ calls about these people. When we followed the locations tonight in attempt to retrieve them, the next door neighbors of their last seen location let us know that the house is absolutely a trap house. Very very sketchy. All night we watched them go from one house or gas station to another, staying 2 min tops at each place and then taking off to the next spot, for hours total. Whoever took my AirPods is doing a lot more than stealing AirPods. And I am unfortunately going to have to purchase a new set instead of tracking mine down, for my own & my husband’s safety.
Please do not buy this case.
