Works well but bulkier than I expected

I was looking for something to keep in my laptop bag that would both act as an extension cord and also provide some charging options. I didn't want a power strip because it would be too big to keep in my laptop bag. This looked like it would carry out all the functions I needed while also being more compact.

It is certainly shorter than a power strip, but the cube at the end of the cord is also almost twice the thickness of a power strip. So it still adds more bulk than I would like.

As for functionality though, it's great. Cord is heavy duty. It does have a flat plug, which is helpful in some circumstances but a drawback in others (like plugging in to another power strip that's almost full).

I bought this for use when we travel. Although hotels are getting better about outlet locations, there are still many without sufficient outlets near the bed.

We recently used this during a 2-week trip. The first few nights it worked well without issue. About the 4th or 5th night, we woke up with the power strip very hot, almost too hot to touch. We had to phone charges and a laptop plugged into the power strip so I don't think the power draw was too high.

I don't know I will use this going forward (not eligible for return).

I was surprised at the component quality and design of this little power block (not really a strip). Very solid feel and nicely finished. Its compact form factor is great if you need only a few outlets and/or if you travel. However, the cable is heavy and somewhat stiff and could be a little bulky in luggage. It would be nice if the cable was detachable. The cube could also be a little awkward if you want to hang it on a wall, as it sticks out somewhat and could easily get bumped. I was able to place mine on my desk top with the cable dangling between my desk and the wall so that it sits on my desk, unobtrusive but handy for my laptop and charging cables.

If you travel as much as I do, you know getting your phone charged at random places is a crap-shoot, even in 5 star hotels. This is an Anker product so you know you're getting a pretty well built, well QC'ed product. I like the small footprint and long cord (god... sometimes the outlet is exactly 6 inches further than the standard travel chargers). I look forward in using it on my cruise in August as it's suppose to be cruise ship friendly.

The USB C-to-C for rapid charging is useful. The two additional USB slots are also useful for items that cannot be rapid charged safely. Plus three type B standard grounded outlets will cover my traveling needs. The only things missing are adapters for countries where type B outlets are rare.

I will be using this power strip over the summer commuting between home and work with my laptop and cameras. If it passes that test I will take it upon a long endless summer beginning in Colombia and ending in Ecuador or Peru. I had to USB chargers fail during my latest endless summer across Mesoamerica into South America. One was several years old with no rapid charge port and the other was a cheap replacement in Puebla Mexico that lasted almost five months before failing in Ecuador.

Charging power is too weak for three devices

I bought this charger to charge my iPad (12.9 inch, on USB-C, max 20W), iPhone 12 (on USB) and Apple Watch (on USB) every night. However, whenever if I first connect the iPad, my iPhone and Apple Watch would not get any power. I suspect the iPad draws too much power for the charger to handle any more device. It can power all my three devices only when I first connect the iPhone and the Apple Watch, and last the iPad. I still love this charger because of its great compact size and versatile functionality, sort of "Swiss Army Knife of chargers". However its borderline output power cost it one star.

Anker products never cease to amaze with their robust build and value to the features they provide. This travel adapter and charger is no different in that aspect.
With an ample cable length, the adapter box multiplies number of plugs to three, though I wouldn't recommend to use any power devices like a heater. There are two USB charger endpoints with 2x type B and 1x type C port delivering high amps over 2-3. I use it on my bedside table and also carry it along for me local trips. Great buy!

I think I got a defective unit, I will try to contact anker and see if the warranty covers this. I purchased this in January and in May issues are still persisting.

UPDATE: After contacting them via email, I was sent a replacement for my previous unit. Customer service is outstanding, which is why I keep shopping with Anker and their products.

After watching many electronics channels on YouTube disassemble cheap chargers and demonstrating just how unsafe they can be, I’ve learned to trust Anker products. I had a unique situation where I needed a couple of USB A ports for cameras, and a couple 110 v outlets for lights. This fit the bill almost perfectly. I like that it has a flat plug with an angled cord making it possible to use both outlets regardless of which one it’s plugged into.

It would have been ideal if I could plug in a high draw item as well, but this is limited to 10 amps. More than enough for most things but not high enough for what I wanted.
