5.0 out of 5 starsVersatile battery pack that works well
Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on March 12, 2023
This is a powerful, versatile battery pack that can work with just about any device. The form factor is a bit different, as it's not a flat slab, but instead a more square shape but tall. It has a small, but useful OLED screen that gives you a more detailed status than just a few lights. Two USB C and 1 USB A port are versatile enough for most applications. Due to the higher (but not the highest possible) capacity, this is a good battery pack to take on a trip where you might need extended power, but just keep in mind that it's also not light so it's not something you would carry every day. I do like the form factor and I think this makes it a bit easier to carry. When in use, you can stand it up on end or lay it down, which also gives you flexability.

One unexpected thing I found is that you can not only charge a Nintendo Switch, but you can use it to power the dock. Usually if you try to use a non-Nintendo USB C power adapter to power the dock, you get a message that says you need to use the official power adapter; however, this battery will work. Note that you still need to have some way to power the monitor, so I question the usefulness of powering the dock with a battery, but it does work. If you're bringing your switch and dock to a friend's house, you could connect to their TV and use the battery rather than having to ask them to plug into an extra power outlet.

This pack comes with a carrying pouch with a drawstring closure. Nice bonus to keep your pack from getting scuffed up while traveling. There's also room to throw a cable or two in the pouch too, in order to keep everything together.

One thing I did notice is that this pack seems to have a bit of self-discharge when not in use. I fully charged it to 100%, came back a few weeks later, and the display said it was at 97% even though I didn't use it at all. This is not awful, but it also means you can't charge it up, throw it in a drawer, and expect to come back a year later to a full charge. If you expect to use it, you should plan ahead and make sure it is topped off ahead of time. This makes a bit less ideal for use in emergencies.

The only other downside is that it is not exactly the very top capacity allowed for air travel. It's close, but not quiet there. The Anker Powercore III Elite 26k has a bit more power and can still be taken on an airplane. But the difference is small, so this is still a great high capacity choice.

PROS:
* Nice form factor, can lay down or stand up for less desk space usage
* Two USB C and one USB A port gives versatility
* OLED screen gives detailed usage stats, not just a capacity indicator
* 140W charge & delivery means fast charge and wide device support
* Can power all but the very most demanding laptops
* Can power a Nintendo Switch dock
* Comes with a decent storage pouch
* Priced competitively when on sale
* Nice build quality, rubber sides for good gripability

CONS:
* Comes with a USB C cable, but no charging brick included (not a huge CON)
* Not the max capacity allowed for air travel - could have had a bit more
* Heavy for every day use - better for travel on longer trips
* Might have slight self-discharge over time
* Finish is nice, but seems like it could get scuffed/scratched easily

Conclusion: I had a dilemma to get this or the Powercore III Elite 26k. This one was a bit cheaper and seemed to have more features, but not quite as much total capacity. Ultimately I ended up buying both, but if I had to choose one and had prior experience with both, I would choose this one for the added features, higher charge/discharge rating, better form factor, and ability to power a Nintendo Switch dock. If you're on the fence between the two, get this one. If you're looking at cheaper alternative brands, spend the extra money and get this one as the quality is worth it.

2.0 out of 5 starsNot what is advertised, very slow charging
Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on March 5, 2023
I have mixed feelings on this charger, but absolutely do not believe it's worth the full price. They claim 140W charging, but I do not believe that to be true. I can't charge it beyond 45W when using a 65W charger with it (granted it could probably charge faster if I had a faster power brick). Charge speed of the powerbank is not my primary concern.

In a teardown video, it's shown there are 4 batteries at 4,000mAh. So my math shows their battery power is at 16,000mAh, not 26mAh, as advertised. While I've always thought highly of Anker, lying about what you are purchasing is not a good look and has killed my thoughts on the company as clearly their standards are not as high as I thought.

I also found charge times to be so slow, you'd absolutely be better off going out of your way to find power than to use this product. Here is what I found in testing:

> Charging OnePlus 8T (capable of hitting 65W over 10V @6.5A with total capacity of 4500mAh) can only charge between 5-12W with an average of 10.1W. It did hit 20W for the first 10-30 seconds, but quickly dropped. While normal top up from 0-100% takes 30-35 minutes, it took 1 hour and 41 minutes to charge from 15% to 100%, which is the longest charge time I've ever seen on this phone. Even the older style USB cables plugged in on a random USB port typically charge at 18W on average, so this product instantly disappointed. So my phone took around 3.5x longer to charge using this powerbank.

> Charging OnePlus Earbuds on a Rapid Charger typically takes around 10-12 minutes to charge from 0-100%. This product has a 520mAh battery. Charging on this charger they averaged only 2W of output power from the powerbank and took 40 minutes to charge from 30%. So my earbuds take well over 3x to charge to full when you account for the extra 30% the earbuds still had.

> Charging my Dell XPS 13 Laptop with a ~7,027mAh battery was the only time the powerbank came close to it's advertised charging speeds. It was capable of averageing 41.5W, with the max supported XPS charge speed of 45W (so the only product I actually got proper speeds). This depleted the Anker battery quickly and showed that the Anker powerbank is absolutely lying about their battery capacity because it depletes the entirety of the Anker battery before the laptop can charge to 100% after charging the 2 devices above 1 time each, neither from 0%.

Total charge between all the devices: ~3-5x longer than if you have AC power, absolutely does not reach anywhere near 140W of output as most fast charge batteries require cooling to be done on the power brick, which this device isn't capable of. While a theoretical maximum of 140W output might be possible if all the cooling is done on the device end and not the charging end, these are largely false claims made by Anker which I can prove do not line up to normal real world charging speeds unless you happen to have a device that doesn't support standardized fast charging (circa 2023 standards).

Would not recommend product if you are concerned about charging times or actual charging capacity.

1.0 out of 5 stars Fatal Execution = a clear miss
Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on March 8, 2023

Clearly Anker missed the point
Travel power banks need to be reliable, hold charge well over days and be light to be portable>

Anker has missed all three:
Charge density is lesser than most other power banks in comparison
Fewer charging ports
Heavier by almost 100gms comparatively to similar bigger ones with 30000mah capacity
Does not provided required charge current for devices
Significant self drainage when unused - 3% overnight

The only good thing is finish and a crisp display
Display is good only for showing errors :(

A clear miss by Anker on what could have been a good product,
While it was significantly more expensive, since i travel a lot, I wanted this to work - but if failed.
There are much better options at 1/4th the price point with PD options.

Pretty awful experience with overrated company. I used to be a huge fan! Spent tons of hard earn money for Anker products.. the old Anker was the brand to buy from.. the new Anker cares only for quantity, and not quality!
The technical support I contacted answers ONLY once every 24 hrs - so a technical problem can be ONLY reported via email (yes, I called the US number and was told I can only report technical issue via email).. You send them message and then wait till next day for response... then you respond and you wait another 24 hrs for response.. and so on.. week later and you still chatting with clueless reps who are offering 15% refund for product that is simply useless.
This power bank could not handle 9V to 30V device - a simple DC to DC converter !!!!!

Done with Anker and it's time to steer away. There are better other options these days!

1.0 out of 5 stars It will either charge items slower than advertised or not at all.

First I tried using it with an HP laptop and the 140 watt cable supplied by Anker. It would just rapidly turn on and off. I tried it again with a 100 watt cable that works fine with other chargers I own and it did the same thing. It did finally connect with a lower power rated cable from another device and it put out 56 watts. I also tried charging a Samsung phone and it would not do super fast charging and maxes out at 16 watts. Read other reviews for this item before trying because apparently it has a lot of device and cable compatibility issues. It did recharge itself 93 watts when connected to another brands charger.

It took over 12 hours for this to fully charge. The first time I used this it was very warm , then hot to the touch while charging my iPad. I felt unsafe using this and returned it. I have since purchased a smaller unit and noticed that unit too gets very hot while charging my phone. I’m returning that as well and will not purchase anymore Anker products.
